Softball Preview: Southwestern Trojans vs. Olean Huskies
Southwestern is 1-7 against Olean since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Everything went Southwestern's way against Dunkirk on Monday as Southwestern made off with a 10-2 victory. Madelyn Burnett made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Burnett has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances. Burnett was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Alexis Beckerink was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Eliana Barone, who went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run.
Meanwhile, while Olean put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Jamestown. Olean blew past Jamestown 18-0. Olean's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
