Softball Recap: Rockingham County Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

Rockingham County's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers a 17-0 shutout. Considering the Cougars have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ava Grace Pruitt and Ava Doss made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Pruitt pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Doss tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. At the plate, Pruitt went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Doss went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Chloe Furgurson was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Emma Rumbley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Rockingham County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bartlett Yancey only posted an OBP of .100.

Rockingham County's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bartlett Yancey, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-11.

As of now, neither Rockingham County nor the Buccaneers have any future games scheduled.
