Softball Recap: Wayne Christian Has No Trouble Against Harrells Christian Academy

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Wayne Christian brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. Everything went their way against the Harrells Christian Academy Crusaders on Tuesday as they made off with an 11-5 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won eight in a row.

Riley Sutton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Audrey Thompson, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leia Mokus, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Wayne Christian now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Harrells Christian Academy, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Wayne Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Crusaders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
