Basketball Recap: Ben Bestgen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tipton over South Callaway

Tipton lost against South Callaway back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tipton Cardinals fell to the South Callaway Bulldogs 69-65. While the Cardinals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 17-12 in the first quarter.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ben Bestgen, who posted 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of William Cashman, who had 13 points and six boards.

Tipton has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for South Callaway, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.

Tipton will venture away from home to face off against St. Paul Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Callaway, they will take on New Bloomfield in a tournament on Monday.
