Basketball Recap: South Vermillion Takes a Loss

South Vermillion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 44th straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 51-20 loss at the hands of the Clay City Eels. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-9.

Clay City was led to victory by Taylor Rhienhart and Jenna Hofmann. Rhienhart dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Hofmann posted 11 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Hofmann a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigale Shearer, who scored eight points and five boards.

South Vermillion's loss dropped their record down to 0-20. As for Clay City, their victory ended an eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-14.

South Vermillion has already played their next contest, a 58-28 defeat against North Vermillion on the 22nd. As for Clay City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 49-28 loss against North Daviess on the 21st.
