Baseball Recap: Cashmere's Undefeated Season over After Seven Games

If Cashmere was riding high fresh off their 15-5 takedown of Royal on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Knights by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 15-5.

Tom McDevitt put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

McDevitt wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mac Carlson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double was Carlson's first of the season. Another was Jake Peterson, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Having lost for the first time this season, Cashmere fell to 6-1. As for Royal, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.

Coming up, Cashmere will look to defend their home field on Friday against Cle Elum-Roslyn at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.9, the Warriors 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Royal, they will head out on the road to square off against Chelan at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
