Softball Game Preview: Penfield Patriots vs. Fairport Red Raiders

The Penfield Patriots will take on the Fairport Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Penfield will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Penfield's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Greece Odyssey 8-0. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Fairport unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 14-3 to Rush-Henrietta.

Fairport saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allison Runke, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Penfield pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fairport, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

Penfield was able to grind out a solid win over Fairport in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 9-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
