The Canyon Comanches are taking a road trip to face off against the El Modena Vanguards at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Canyon is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Canyon and Brea Olinda had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Comanches walked away with a 6-2 win over the Wildcats on Friday. Six seems to be a good number for the Comanches as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Nathan Fuzzard tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Blake Lau, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Canyon is 4-1 when Lau posts two or more runs, but 10-11 otherwise. Justin Reynolds also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for El Modena, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Pacifica on Thursday, sneaking past 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vanguards have posted against the Mariners since April 4, 2018.
Not much got past Ryan Novajoski, who gave up just five hits to keep Pacifica off the board.
At the plate, Isaac Silva was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Honikel, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Canyon's record is now 14-12. As for El Modena, their record now sits at 20-6.
Canyon skirted past El Modena 8-7 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comanches since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
