Volleyball Recap: Rogers Vikings vs. Tiverton Tigers
Rogers was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tiverton Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.
Rogers started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 26-28, 25-6, 25-23, 25-9.
Miranda Ventura paced Rogers' offense, picking up five kills. Ventura got some help from Alana Finn and her ten assists. Kimberlly DeMedeiros controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Rogers' defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Tiverton, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Rogers will face off against St. Raphael Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tiverton, after both having extra time off, they and Tolman will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
