Volleyball Preview: Greenway Demons vs. Agua Fria Owls
The Greenway Demons will venture away from home to take on the Agua Fria Owls at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Greenway has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Last Tuesday, Greenway didn't have quite enough to beat Paradise Honors and fell 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Demons in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.
Greenway wouldn't go down easily and took Paradise Honors into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-15, 23-25, 25-22, 15-7.
Agua Fria had won six straight home games dating back to last season and Charles Tacker did his part to make it seven on Tuesday. The Owls blew past Peoria 3-0 for which the team can thank Tacker, who had 16 digs and three assists. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 16 or more in each of the last three games he's played.
Agua Fria never let Peoria on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-16, 25-16.
Agua Fria is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Greenway, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
