Football Game Preview: Perkins Pirates vs. Sandusky Blue Streaks

The Perkins Pirates will head out to square off against the Sandusky Blue Streaks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Perkins will be strutting in after a win while Sandusky will be coming in after a loss.

Perkins is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 63-14 victory over Clyde. With the Pirates ahead 49-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Sam Schweinfurth produced another solid performance throwing for 234 yards and five TDs while completing 82.4% of his passes. His passing game has become a key predictor of Perkins' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise. Connor Smith was another key player, picking up 79 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Perkins was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 230 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Meanwhile, Sandusky was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 28-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of Columbian.

The win made it two in a row for Perkins and bumps their season record up to 3-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 14 points in those games. As for Sandusky, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything came up roses for Perkins against Sandusky in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 37-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
