Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Walled Lake Western). Everything went their way against the Kettering Captains on Wednesday as they made off with a 20-0 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.
Maddie Farrand made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Walled Lake Western got a massive performance out of Sierra Geisler, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Geisler a new career-high. Erika Nakanishi was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Walled Lake Western always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
