Softball Recap: Awaken Christian Extends Winning Streak to Two

Awaken Christian won against Laughlin on Thursday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Awaken Christian didn't even let Laughlin on the board, marking Awaken Christian's second-straight 10-0 shutout. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Sydney Husted made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cailey Velarde, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Kaylee Rasmussen was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.

The win made it two in a row for Awaken Christian and bumps their season record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Laughlin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.
