Football Recap: Wellington Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

While Wellington put up some points on Thursday, the same can't be said for Jensen Beach. The Wellington Wolverines blew past the Jensen Beach Falcons 21-0. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Falcons are ranked 91st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The critical scores for Wellington came from Lyan Hernandez, Jordan Fernandez, and Angelia Bistrong.

Wellington didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Fernandez and Bistrong. Bistrong got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 1.3 points on average over those games. As for Jensen Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Wellington didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 24-0 victory against Boca Raton on the 17th. After both having extra time off, Jensen Beach and Vero Beach will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th. Jensen Beach's defense has only allowed 11.8 points per game this season, so Vero Beach's offense will have their work cut out for them.
