Baseball Recap: Fitzgerald Comes Up Short

If Fitzgerald was riding high fresh off their 10-2 takedown of Farber Hebrew Day on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Spartans lost 12-1 to the Mott Marauders on Wednesday. The Spartans have struggled against the Marauders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Thomas Baranski made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two stolen bases. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Fitzgerald's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Mott, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-7.

Coming up, Fitzgerald will host Clintondale at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans are facing the Dragons at the right time seeing as the Dragons are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Mott, they are taking a road trip to challenge Hazel Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Marauders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
