Football Recap: Mannford Comes Up Short

If Mannford was feeling good fresh off their 41-13 takedown of McLoud last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates took a blow against the Perkins-Tryon Demons on Friday, falling 63-6. The contest marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Max Moore threw for 72 yards and one touchdown. Trey Scott was his top target, picking up 45 receiving yards and one TD. On the ground, Jj Hindsman rushed for 64 yards.

It was another big night for Wyatt Atkinson, who rushed for 187 yards and three scores while picking up 11.0 yards per carry for Perkins-Tryon. Atkinson's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 172 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Westin Atkinson, who picked up 124 receiving yards and three TDs.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mannford fell to 4-1. As for Perkins-Tryon, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mannford is set to take on their familiar foe Bristow at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Luke Naylor and Mack Powell. Meanwhile, Perkins-Tryon will square off against rival Seminole at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 940 yards in their previous games.
