Jonathan Dargitz commands the offense for Hawks win

Recap: Buckeye Hawks vs. Youngker Roughriders

The Buckeye Hawks won the last time they faced the Youngker Roughriders, and things went their way on Thursday too. Buckeye snuck past Youngker with a 57-52 victory. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 18 to 9 on the offensive boards, as Buckeye did.

Buckeye's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jonathan Dargitz led the charge by scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Leyva, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and five steals.

Despite the loss, Youngker still got an impressive performance from Ares Chambers, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Chambers hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Williams, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.

Buckeye's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Youngker, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Buckeye will head out on the road to challenge Estrella Foothills at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Youngker, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Glendale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
