Basketball Recap: Hunter Wolverines vs. West Jordan Jaguars
If Hunter was riding high fresh off their 56-28 takedown of Granger last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hunter Wolverines fell 64-55 to the West Jordan Jaguars on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-41 back in January.

Despite the defeat, Hunter saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Grace Gallagher dropped a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Gallagher is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last 35 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Mamakoula Tuitupou-Kutu, who posted 11 points and eight boards.
Even though they lost, Hunter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.
Giselle Muffett continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for West Jordan, dropping a double-double with 26 points and ten rebounds. That's the most points Muffett has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Erilyn Lokeni, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards.
Hunter's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for West Jordan, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Coming up, Hunter will take on Kearns at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Jordan, they will face off against Taylorsville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Taylorsville sitting on three straight victories and West Jordan on nine.
