Baseball Recap: Rickards' Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Rickards made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Godby, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Raiders blew past the Cougars 12-3 on Saturday. This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the Cougars last Wednesday, they had to take a 15-3 defeat.

Troy Williams was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jakobi Winfrey was a standout: he scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Manny Hernandez was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and one double.

Rickards always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Godby only posted an OBP of .219.

Rickards' win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14. As for Godby, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-13.

Coming up, Rickards will head out to take on Florida State University High School at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Godby, they will welcome Gadsden County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars are facing the Jaguars at the right time seeing as the Jaguars are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
