Aledo is 7-1 against Saginaw since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Aledo Bearcats will look to defend their home field against the Saginaw Rough Riders at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Aledo has six straight wins, Saginaw has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
It was a proper cat-fight when Aledo challenged Fossil Ridge on Friday. Aledo blew past Fossil Ridge 11-2. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.
TEMPE PERRY made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest hits she has allowed over her last five contests. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on MARINA TAVERAS, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was KYLEIGH PAWLAK, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
Aledo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fossil Ridge only managed four hits.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Saginaw and Brewer meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. Saginaw lost 18-2 to Brewer.
Saginaw saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rhyan Angles, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Those two hits gave Angles a new career-high.
Aledo pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Saginaw, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.
Aledo took their win against Saginaw when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-2. Does Aledo have another victory up their sleeve, or will Saginaw turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
