The Liberty Patriots will venture away from home to square off against the Centennial Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Liberty is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Basic, who was ranked 20th at the time (Liberty was ranked eighth). The Patriots had just enough and edged out the Wolves 10-9 on Saturday. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Liberty got a massive performance out of Morgyn Vesco, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Vesco has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Portlynn Stacey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive games.
Centennial let Bishop Gorman stack five runs on them in the first inning on Monday but luckily Centennial prevailed anyway. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Gaels. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.
Centennial also got a great performance from Lily Fournier as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over 6.2 innings pitched. Fournier has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 14 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Amanda Campos-Colon, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Campbell Cole was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Liberty's record is now 13-7-2. As for Centennial, their record now sits at 14-11.
Liberty beat Centennial 5-2 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
