Ashland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 34th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ladysmith Lumberjacks. On the bright side, the eight- run effort marked the Oredockers' highest-scoring contest to date.

Ashland's loss dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Ladysmith, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-17.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Lumberjacks beat Ashland by a score of 12-1 later that day.
