Basketball Game Preview: Pickens Blue Flame vs. Seneca Bobcats

Pickens is 0-6 against Seneca since January of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Pickens Blue Flame will welcome the Seneca Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Pickens saw some tournament action on Monday. They took a blow against Powdersville, falling 65-29.

Meanwhile, Seneca was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Monday as they fell 62-58 to Crestwood.

Pickens will have to keep a close watch on Miyana Chamberlain and Savannah Weston, a pair of players who had a big impact on Seneca's prior game. Chamberlain dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards, while Weston dropped a double-double on 16 points and 27 boards. Weston is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games she's played. Anna Riches was another key player, putting up four points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Seneca smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Seneca has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Pickens, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Pickens was taken down by Seneca 66-36 when the teams last played back in January of 2020. Thankfully for Pickens, Kaliah Kendrick (who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
