Baseball Recap: Taylor Comes Up Short

Taylor extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 19 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-18 in the process. They came up short against the Delphi Community Oracles, falling 10-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Titans of the 16-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Taylor saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zayden Lorenz, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

As for Delphi Community, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.

On Delphi Community's side, the team relied heavily on Keigan Watts, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brett Huffman, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Taylor will host Bluffton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Titans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Delphi Community, they will welcome Fountain Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
