Basketball Recap: Austin Takes a Loss

Austin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were dealt an 80-52 loss at the hands of the Deshler Tigers. The Black Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.

Deshler found their leader in sophomore Reece Davis, who went 12 for 22 on her way to 37 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davis has scored all season.

Austin's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Deshler, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Austin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 37-34 victory against Decatur on the 3rd. Deshler has also already played their next matchup, a 70-26 win against Sheffield on the 30th.
