The St. Bonaventure Seraphs will venture away from home to square off against the Castaic Coyotes at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Castaic took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Bonaventure, who comes in off a win.
St. Bonaventure was handed a eight-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Foothill Tech 4-3.
Jason De La Paz made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

In other pitching news, Ricky Estrada looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has become a key player for St. Bonaventure: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Luc Beauchemin was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Castaic has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.72 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They fell 12-7 to Paraclete. The Coyotes' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Jr Yera made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jakob Kerr, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
St. Bonaventure's record is now 8-6. As for Castaic, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
St. Bonaventure came out on top in a nail-biter against Castaic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Seraphs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
