Basketball Game Preview: Bret Harte Bullfrogs vs. Hughson Huskies

The Bret Harte Bullfrogs will challenge the Hughson Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Bret Harte couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 61-22 blowout they got against Vanguard College Prep. The Bullfrogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Hughson entered their tilt with Bradshaw Christian on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They secured a 59-54 W over the The Pride.

Hughson's win came from a few key players Bret Harte will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jackson Gehrke, who went 11 for 14 on his way to 27 points and six rebounds. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Karam Kang, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 19 points.

Bret Harte has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for Hughson, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.

Everything came up roses for Bret Harte against Hughson in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 67-35 win. Does Bret Harte have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hughson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
