Dougherty extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-10. They lost 19-10 to the Hardaway Hawks. Even if the Trojans couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled in the games prior.
Dougherty saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jalexi Thomas, who went 2-for-4 while logging 5 RBIs, 2 doubles, and 2 runs.
As for Hardaway, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-7. Considering they have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, another big win was nothing new.
On Hardaway's side, Naryah Wilson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 10 batters over 7 innings while giving up 4 earned (and six unearned) runs off 9 hits. Wilson has also been pretty much perfect as far as strikeouts are concerned: she hasn't struck out any for 13 straight games. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances while logging 2 RBIs, 1 stolen base, and 3 walks. She also set a new season-high mark in batters struck out with 10.
In other pitching news, Wilson tossed a big game, striking out 10 batters over 7 innings while giving up 4 earned (and six unearned) runs off 9 hits. She has also been pretty much perfect as far as strikeouts are concerned: she hasn't struck out any for 13 straight games.
Back at the plate, Hardaway got a massive performance out of Malani Perkins, who earned three runs and five stolen bases. The three runs were her most this season. Another player making a difference was Kamora Ingram, who went 2-for-4 while posting 1 home run, 4 RBIs, and 3 runs.
