The Renville County West Jaguars will head out on the road to take on the Ortonville Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Renville County West barely beat Dawson-Boyd the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Jaguars came out on top against the Blackjacks on Monday by a score of 11-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Jaguars this season.

Mackenna Hinderks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Renville County West let Hope Hendriks and Venna Veglahn run wild. Hendriks got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Veglahn went 2-for-3 with two runs. Those two hits gave Veglahn a new career-high. Gracie Viessman also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Ortonville can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They blew past Dawson-Boyd 7-1.
Ortonville also got a great performance from Aubrey Zuraff as she struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off nine hits (and not a single walk).
On the hitting side, Bailey Merrit was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Sara Kirkeby was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Ortonville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Renville County West's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-6. As for Ortonville, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-8.
Renville County West took their victory against Ortonville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
