Baseball Game Preview: Mount Horeb Vikings vs. Monroe Cheesemakers

The Mount Horeb Vikings will face off against the Monroe Cheesemakers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Mount Horeb took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Baraboo 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted against the Thunderbirds since May 10, 2019.

Meanwhile, Monroe waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. That's two games straight that the Cheesemakers have won by just one run.

Monroe's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.75 runs across that stretch. As for Mount Horeb, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11-1 record this season.

Mount Horeb was able to grind out a solid win over Monroe when the teams last played back in April, winning 7-4. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Cheesemakers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
