Adding to the longest winning streak in AAAAAA Region 2 this week, Alcovy beat Luella 34-31. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Tigers.
Lovejoy took down Druid Hills 59-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Lions' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Donald Hammond threw for 144 yards and Charles Brown had 43 yards receiving. On the ground Hammond contributed 26 yards. Jaylon Harris helped Luella's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 30 yards.
Hammond put up the best numbers in passing as Luella lost to Alcovy.
Thanks to the talents of Hammond and Quad Clemmons, Nic Vasilchek's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Hammond is tops in the league in passing with 568 yards, while Clemmons has rushed for 200 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Newton's Davonta Jones, with 184 yards on 11 catches.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Rockdale County takes on second place Lovejoy.
The Wildcats led the league in scoring this week after putting up 59 points on the Red Devils.
