In what's become a running theme this season, the Sunnyside Blue Devils gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 67-27 victory over Marana. The win was familiar territory for Sunnyside who now have six in a row.
Sunnyside was led to victory by Dora Medina and Nayeli Nidez-Acu?a. Medina scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Nidez-Acu?a scored eight points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Medina has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alana Felix, who scored 11 points.
Marana struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Sunnyside racked up 14 assists.
Sunnyside's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Marana, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-16.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunnyside will face off against the Badgers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tucson High Magnet School will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 16th). As for Marana, they will head out on the road to face off against the Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Rincon/University focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
