Volleyball Game Preview: La Jolla Vikings vs. St. Augustine Saints

The La Jolla Vikings will take on the St. Augustine Saints at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, La Jolla came up short against Clairemont and fell 3-1. The Vikings have struggled against the Chieftains recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

La Jolla couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Clairemont a tough time in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 36-34, 25-23, 22-25, 25-21.

Meanwhile, St. Augustine unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cathedral Catholic.

While St. Augustine ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-27, 25-20, 25-17.

La Jolla's defeat dropped their record down to 13-16. As for St. Augustine, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 14-10.
