Football Recap: Laurel Piles Up the Points Against Northgate

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Laurel). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 50-0 win over the Northgate Flames. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Flames: they've now won six in a row.

Laurel got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nathan Hill out in front who rushed for 85 yards and two TDs on only 11 carries. Jack Miles was another key player, gaining 33 total yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Laurel was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 368 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Laurel didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Mason Moser, Tony Geiwitz, and Ashton Maine picked up one apiece. Moser also put up a receiving touchdown, which was his first of the season.

Laurel's record now sits at 5-1. As for Northgate, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Laurel will welcome Summit Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Northgate, they will head out to square off against South Side at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Flames' defense better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 30.7 points per game this season.
