Recap: Thomas Jefferson Vikings vs. Goochland Bulldogs
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Thomas Jefferson Vikings had no problem doing just that on Friday. They didn't even let Goochland onto the board and left with a 20-0 win. Thomas Jefferson's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Thomas Jefferson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ty-keycee Parker, who rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Rashaud Cherry, who rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns.
Thomas Jefferson pushed their record up to 10-0 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 John Marshall and 3-8 Goochland (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37.5% over those games). As for Goochland, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-8.
Thomas Jefferson will be playing at home against Armstrong at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Armstrong is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Goochland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
