Softball Recap: Irvin Rockets vs. Riverside Rangers
Irvin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They lost 16-6 to the Riverside Rangers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rangers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-2 back in March.
Kimberly De La Torre made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Dalila Medina also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Irvin's loss dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Riverside, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-12 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Irvin will head out to challenge Austin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Riverside, they will venture away from home to face off against Bowie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.41 runs per game on average), something the Rangers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
