Football Recap: Taiden Eaton Leads Morrisville-Eaton's Defense on Friday

Morrisville-Eaton never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Unatego/Franklin on Friday. They secured a 34-29 W over Unatego/Franklin.

Mason Marland had a dynamite game, rushing for 109 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries, while also picking up 90 receiving yards and one TD. Those 90 receiving yards gave him a new career-high. Wesley Dimperio was in the mix as well, providing Morrisville-Eaton with two scores.

Another reason for the win was Morrisville-Eaton's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. It was truly a group effort as Taiden Eaton, Noah Mudge, and Marland picked up two apiece. Eaton is crushing it when it comes to sacks: he's posted at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Morrisville-Eaton got some further help from Gavin Baker: he made 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Morrisville-Eaton's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Unatego/Franklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morrisville-Eaton will take on Corinth at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Unatego/Franklin, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Dryden at 6:30 p.m. on October 24.
