Volleyball Recap: Dexter Demons vs. Ruidoso Warriors

After flying high against Tularosa last Friday, Dexter came back down to earth. The Dexter Demons fell just short of the Ruidoso Warriors by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Demons haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Dexter took Ruidoso into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-12, 22-25, 25-18, 15-11.

When it comes to explaining why Dexter lost, don't look at Alexa Miramontes. Despite the final result, she had 13 kills, three digs, two blocks, and two aces. Miramontes is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in the last 38 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Karina Fuentes, who had seven kills, four digs, and three blocks.

Leading Ruidoso to victory were Makenzie Wilson and Aubrey Eidson. Wilson had six digs and 29 assists, while Eidson had eight digs, seven kills, and five aces. With that strong performance, Wilson is now averaging an impressive 12.2 assists per game.

Dexter's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-4. As for Ruidoso, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-7.
