Softball Game Preview: Alpaugh Buffalos vs. Legacy Christian Academy Lions

The Alpaugh Buffalos will venture away from home to square off against the Legacy Christian Academy Lions at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Alpaugh's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last six contests.

While Alpaugh's win against Laton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Buffalos had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 25-24.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Legacy Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Kings Christian on Friday by a score of 13-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Considering the Lions have won three matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ava Houchin was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Hope Horner, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Legacy Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.

Alpaugh pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.6 runs over those games. As for Legacy Christian Academy, they moved to 3-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Alpaugh skirted past Legacy Christian Academy 29-28 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buffalos since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
