Recap: Red Mesa Redskins vs. Seligman Antelopes
The Red Mesa Redskins lost against the Seligman Antelopes back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Red Mesa fell 59-48 to Seligman.
Jonah Herbert and Jerwin Begay certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Herbert scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Begay scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Herbert's 12th in a row with at least ten points.
Seligman was led to victory by Montae Walker and Carmelo Manakaja. Walker scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and six steals, while Manakaja scored 28 points along with six rebounds and six steals. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Manakaja has scored at least 25% of Seligman's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cyrus Labaco, who scored two points along with nine rebounds.
Red Mesa has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Seligman, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Red Mesa won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Many Farms at 7:30 p.m. on December 21, 2023. One thing working in Many Farms' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games. Seligman will finish 2023 at home by hosting Anthem Prep at 5:30 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Anthem Prep is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
