East Duplin falls despite strong effort from Calvin Harper

Recap: East Duplin Panthers vs. South Lenoir Blue Devils

The East Duplin Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 79-56 loss at the hands of South Lenoir. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Despite the loss, East Duplin still got an impressive performance from Calvin Harper, who scored 30 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harper has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jacorey Davis, who scored four points.

Even though they lost, East Duplin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. This was only their 13th loss (out of 15 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

East Duplin has not been sharp recently as the team has lost 13 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-19 record this season. As for South Lenoir, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-17.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Duplin will square off against Wallace-Rose Hill at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Duplin is coming into the game with eight straight losses on the road, meaning Wallace-Rose Hill will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for South Lenoir, they will challenge North Lenoir at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Lenoir is coming into the game with six straight victories on the road, so North Lenoir is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
