Football Recap: Fletcher Piles Up the Points Against Atlantic Coast

Fletcher won the last time they faced Atlantic Coast and things went their way on Friday too. The Senators simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Stingrays 35-6. Given the Senators' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Stingrays are ranked 232nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jah'Myri Jennings had a dynamite game, rushing for 164 yards and two scores while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Those 164 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Joshua Jones was another key player, picking up 74 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Fletcher was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 261 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Atlantic Coast only rushed for 31 rushing yards.

Fletcher's defense stepped up as well, laying out Qwuame Green. six times. The heavy lifting was done by Lucas Burghardt and Nicholas Preacher, who racked up five sacks between them. Will Reynolds was another major factor on D, making 18 total tackles and snagged an interception.

The win (which was Fletcher's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.0 points on average this season. As for Atlantic Coast, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fletcher will take on Nease at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 868 yards in their previous games. As for Atlantic Coast, they will challenge Sandalwood at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Stingrays their first taste of in-conference action this season.
