After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oak Ridge, Pleasant Grove was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Whitney Wildcats 4-2. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 4-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Madeline Lawson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Shealynn Stinson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Stinson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Alex Halverson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Pleasant Grove now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Whitney, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2.

Coming up, Pleasant Grove is taking a road trip to challenge Rocklin at 4:30 p.m. on March 12th. As for Whitney, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Elk Grove at 3:30 p.m. Whitney's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Elk Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
