Presidio is 9-1 against Kermit since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Presidio will welcome Kermit at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Having struggled with nine losses in a row, Presidio turned things around against Tornillo on Friday. They put the hurt on the Coyotes with a sharp 16-4 win. The Blue Devils not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 14th.
Kesara Olivas made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).
In other batting news, Presidio let Miriam Lara and Caro Lares run wild. Lara scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Lares scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave Lares a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kazayra Armendariz, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Presidio kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Kermit had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Aliha Saenz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Saenz was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Kermit got a massive performance out of Hadley Hardaway, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Isabella Urquidi was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Kermit pushed their record up to 8-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Presidio, their victory bumped their record up to 2-11.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Presidio has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .514. However, it's not like Kermit struggles in that department as they've averaged .565. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Presidio took their win against Kermit in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-3. Does Presidio have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kermit turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
