Volleyball Recap: Ja'zae-Lynne Lewis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Refugio over Hebbronville

Refugio was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Hebbronville Longhorns. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Longhorns apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 16-25, 25-18, 25-15.

Refugio lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ja'Zae-Lynne Lewis, who had 13 digs, nine kills, and seven blocks. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Caylee Collins, who had 14 digs and three aces.

Refugio's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Hebbronville, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Refugio will venture away from home to take on Nixon-Smiley at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Hebbronville, they will host Weslaco at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
