Basketball Recap: Heritage Patriots vs. Woodlan Warriors
Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-56 heartbreaker at the hands of the Woodlan Warriors. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-34 last Saturday.

When it comes to explaining why Heritage lost, don't look at Taurean Brown. Despite the final result, he went 9 for 16 on his way to 23 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Brown a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Lantae Cassel, who posted 13 points and five rebounds.
Trey Yoder was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 17 boards for Woodlan. Yoder has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. Jordan Halsey was another key player, putting up ten points.
Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Woodlan, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heritage will challenge Adams Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. Heritage is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season.
