Preview: Morristown-Beard vs. Immaculate Conception
Morristown-Beard will challenge Immaculate Conception on the road at 1:00 PM on Saturday. Both teams are strolling into their matchup after big wins in their previous games.
Morristown-Beard took care of business in their home opener. They were the clear victor with a 35-7 margin. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.
Meanwhile, Immaculate Conception had to kick off their season on the road last week, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on Manville with a sharp 21-0 win. Immaculate Conception was expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 1-0. In their victory, Morristown-Beard relied heavily on junior Nate Panza, who picked up 176 yards on the ground and snatched 2 receiving TDs; a key strategy for Immaculate Conception will lie in finding a way to minimize his impact.
