Softball Recap: Academy of the Holy Names Drops Highest Score of Season Against Clearwater Central Catholic

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Academy of the Holy Names). They put the hurt on the Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders with a sharp 12-2 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Marauders: they've now won nine in a row.

The team relied heavily on Ava LaBarbera, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kacey Scott also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Academy of the Holy Names hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clearwater Central Catholic struck out six times.

The win got Academy of the Holy Names back to even at 4-4. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Looking ahead, Academy of the Holy Names will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Tampa Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tampa Catholic will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, they will be taking part in a tournament against Bishop Kenny at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Clearwater Central Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
