Baseball Recap: Dudley Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Dudley came into Wednesday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Eastern Guilford Wildcats on Wednesday. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats, too.

Brayden Jeffries made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Dudley is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 0-11 otherwise. Jeffries was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Dudley let Cameron Smith and Jamaree McCray run wild. Smith went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while McCray went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most hits McCray has posted since back in April of 2025. Zamari Williamson was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Dudley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Dudley's win bumped their record up to 3-12. As for Eastern Guilford, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-11.

Dudley and Eastern Guilford could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Panthers (ranked 460th) will meet Southwest Guilford (ranked 117th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Eastern Guilford will square off against Northern Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (507 vs. 179).
