Basketball Recap: Altamont Comes Up Short

After flying high against Comer last Friday, Altamont came back down to earth. The Altamont Knights were beaten by the Midfield Patriots 57-28 on Wednesday. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Altamont's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tanner Battle, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Abbey Sellers, who earned seven points.

Leading Midfield to victory were Jazmin Johnson and Kamiya Webb. Johnson dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten steals, while Webb dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. Webb has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 50 times she's played. Lauren Stokes was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Altamont now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Midfield, their win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-3.

Altamont didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 43-39 defeat against Southeastern on the 24th. As for Midfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 80-5 victory against Comer on the 25th.
